Planning an Event

Part 1 - Profiling

So you want to start a club, have a weekly dance, showcase some talent, have a monthly networking event.

Where do you start? How do find people who have the energy after a long day or week to attend your event. And once you find them how can you guarantee they show up? Hmmm.
Let's start by looking at a club. Actors, they love meeting, they love talking, performing, networking. They love clubs. So we want to start a Club for Actors.

Great! Let's go on Facebook, Craigslist, and My Space and start a club set a date and wait for the crowds to show...
Will it work? I don't know, you tell me.
We've set our first meeting for thursday, 7p. But before we send out the e-vites, let's profile a couple of our members.

Suzy - 34 - Singer, Dancer, Actress, been in many plays, couple of bit parts in a movie. Waiting for the big break. She'll show right?

She is also a divorced mother of 2. She works as a receptionist for a Studio in Burbank from 9-5, and lives in Downey. She'll show right? Hmmm.

Edward - 22 - Actor, Writer, studying full time at USC film school. Is taking a class in Acting and has to perform for his final. Doesn't have a car, relies on his friends for rides. Will he show?

Olivia - 50 - Actor, Director, Teacher. Teaches at Long Beach College, is done by 3pm. Has an agent, is attending auditions regularly. Kids are in college, daughter is also an actor. Will She show?

I have been to writers groups, actors groups, screenings, meetings, etc. And some, most I will never return to, why? Cause when I get home I am exhausted and the thought of going out -- I'd rather watch a movie and drink a beer...Help me!
What can you do to get me out of my apartment and to your meeting. Let's look at some of the ways we can coax people out of their comfort zone and into your event.
